Title: When Industry meets Trustworthy AI

Abstract: Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been a key enabler technology for Industry 4.0 to reach business objectives in different areas successfully. Some AI techniques that strongly contributed to automating the processes are: optimisation, quality, thorough operational excellence, generative design, intelligent purchasing and supply management, robotics, and smart devices. As companies and industrial manufacturers begin to implement processes to reach the benefits of Industry 4.0, the new Industrial Revolution, Industry 5.0, focuses on using the strength of Industry towards addressing societal goals in addition to economic growth. This turns the traditional concept of Industry into a resilient provider of prosperity, evolving the production centres into respectful components for environmental and societal wellbeing. Thus, the concept of Industry is to be renewed under Industry 5.0 towards supporting long-term service through human and machine cooperation on “smart working” practices. Industry 5.0 incorporates the Industry 4.0 concepts that enrich the perception of the ethical considerations for AI components, place humans as a core component, and foster sustainability at different levels of impact, among other pillars. The talk focuses on analysing current trends that facilitate the transition to industry 5.0 and how Trustworthy AI considerations have been implemented in the industrial sector, fostering the European initiatives for wellbeing.
