Title: Study of AI-Driven Furniture Design Process
Abstract: In the field of design education, designers and design researchers have been actively seeking opportunities to use artificial intelligence (AI) technologies in the design process. Text-based interaction and generative AI were used to support design idea inspiration in a previous study. According to one previous study, AI is even treated as a co-creation partner rather than a teammate during the design process. There are however few studies that have examined the use of artificial intelligence as part of the educational furniture design process. In June 2022, there was an online AI-Driven Furniture Design Workshop. A total of eleven industrial design students participated in the workshop and provided feedback on the experience. As part of this presentation, the workshop process, results, and feedback from the students will be discussed.
